Aimtal team spotlight — Emily Desrosiers
Meet Emily Whitten (@emilyrwhit) Account Manager and Content Lead for Aimtal! Thanks to Aimtal’s remote flexibility, she’s able to explore and live in parts of the country she used to only dream of visiting. When she’s not off-grid backpacking in the summer months, she can be found cruising down the ski slopes of Squaw Valley or Vail.
Get to know more about Emily in this Q+A!
Q: Where were you born, and where do you live now?
A: I was born in Portsmouth, NH and now live in Truckee, CA which is near Lake Tahoe! I’ve also lived in Spain, Boston, and Colorado.
Q: What are your favorite ways to spend your free time outside of work?
A: I love to ski, hike, travel, go to the gym, indulge in Mexican food, and adventure with my Australian Shepherd @timberthegoodboy.
Q: If you could choose to be an animal, which would you choose?
A: I would specifically be my dog, Timber. He has the best, most comfy life. I can’t think of an animal who has it better than him.
Q: What are you currently binge-watching?
A: My fiance and I are never not binge-watching The Office for the 437th time.
Q: Name one marketing mistake many brands make but can easily be avoided:
A: Pixelated logos on marketing content/materials. It puts the message out there that the organization lacks attention to detail and integrity.
Q: How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
A: Active, bubbly, adventurous.
Q: You are hosting a dinner party and get to invite 3 famous people (dead or alive), who do you choose?
A: Carl Sagan to find out the truth about aliens, Jennifer Anniston because she seems really fun to share a bottle of wine with, and Barack Obama for his wisdom.
Q: What are your goals for this year?
A: I’d like to be on my phone less, make more plans to travel, spend more time outside, take more marketing courses, and become more involved in my community.
Q: If you had to pick one artist/song to narrate your life from this point on, what would it be?
A: “Something About You” by Odesza + Hayden James
Q: What is one thing you believe every marketer should know?
A: To align the intention behind your content with your brand’s culture, values, and mission.
Q: How do you take your coffee?
A: My to-go order is a grande coconut milk iced latte with a dash of cinnamon from Starbucks. At home, though — hot, black, and in a mug.
Q: What did you want to be when you grew up?
A: I wanted to be a veterinarian and Mia Hamm.
Q: What is your favorite part about working for Aimtal?
A: I LOVE our team and the dynamic we have — you can’t beat it. We all work so hard to produce quality content for our clients, and it’s an honor to work beside each one of them. I also love the ability and freedom to not be bound to a desk for a certain number of hours each day, and to live wherever I’d like while still being able to keep the job that I love.
Q: What’s your favorite place that you’ve traveled to? Which destinations are at the top of your travel list?
A: My favorite place to visit is Granada, Spain. I lived there for 6 months back in college, and was able to go back in 2019 with some of my best friends from the program. Some of my other favorites include Bermuda, Switzerland, and St. Lucia.
These destinations are at the top of my travel list:
- Torres Del Paine, Chile
- Chamonix, France
- Santorini, Greece
- Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming
- Banff National Park, Canada
- Hokkaido, Japan
- Havasupai Waterfalls, Arizona
- Everywhere/anywhere in Bali
Q: Name a quote that you live by:
A: “Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountains is going home; that wildness is a necessity.” – John Muir
